HIstory
How it started
Higher Ground Autoworx, Inc. opened its doors May 2013. The first location was on 5th street in South Lake Tahoe. In a little over a year, the shop moved to a bigger, nicer facility to better serve our clients.
John Meo started his career working on hot rods at the age of 19, doing both mechanical and auto body work. He fell in love with the mechanical side of things and honed his skills over the next 7 years learning how to fine tune BMWs & Audis on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
He moved to Tahoe in 2008 in search of extremely deep snow and found it. His love of Tahoe was only surpassed by the love of his daughter, born in 2012.
Today, Higher Ground strives to be South Lake Tahoe’s #1 choice for local BMW, Audi, Porsche, and VW service & repair.

John, the owner, is a very thorough and knowledgeable German car mechanic. Most garages send you away without answers if their computer diagnostic tool can't tell you whats wrong with your car. Not John! He gives it to you straight and goes the extra mile to really figure it out. The price for service is not cheap but is worth every penny every time!
